Hi everyone!
This is my intro post! My name is Laura Nguyen, and I'll be your head chair for BMUN 69's Darfur Crisis Committee.
I'm currently a third-year at Cal studying Sociology and Data Science. I love learning about sex and gender, political theory (especially stuff about class, imperialism, and feminism), and other stuff from the ~sociological canon~. As for Data Science — well, it's genuinely painful and I am in constant pain, but it's really useful and satisfying or whatever.
Outside of BMUN, I do research on campus about abortion and contraception; our research group sometimes collabs with the Human Rights Center to do open-source research on human rights abuses related to reproductive health. I also write and do editing work for the Daily Californian, and I'm involved with student organizing with the Cal YDSA.
Wow, sorry for the resume unload! I just want to talk about myself so that you all feel comfortable approaching me with questions about committee, the topic, life as a Cal student, or literally anything! Please don't be afraid to introduce yourself to me and my co-chairs when the time comes. We love hearing about the things that are important to you.
Best,
Laura
