Vice Chair Intro: Deepak Ragu

Hey Guys! My name is Deepak Ragu, and I am super excited to be one of your vice-chairs for the Darfur Genocide Crisis Committee this year! I am currently a sophomore at UC Berkeley, and I'm a Computer Science and Political Science double major. Having done MUN since 7th grade, I'm super excited to once again chair at BMUN! During high school, I've had the opportunity to both compete in and chair crisis committees, so I look forward to once again applying my skills and helping delegates improve their crisis abilities as well. Even though we're gonna be virtual, I know we'll still have a bunch of exciting events and a great time together!
Outside of MUN, I'm involved with a few other organizations at Cal as well, including Sigma Alpha Nu (co-ed pre-law fraternity). In my free time, I usually just hang out with my friends or catch up on tv shows like The Flash and Forever. During quarantine, I've had the chance to watch Game of Thrones (spoiler alert: it doesn't end well) and started watching Brooklyn 99, as well as learned how to play various games (such as Secret Hitler and Among Us).
If you have any questions related to BMUN, Zoom features, MUN in general, or otherwise, feel free to send me an email at dragu@bmun.org or contact the BMUN secretariat. Happy Prepping!

To help with your preparation, here are the two characters and their profiles for your consideration – think about how you might interact and work with them to achieve your personal and committee goals! [Please Read!] Clarifying Crisis Procedure + Tech Protocols

Hi everyone! We only have four more days until BMUN!!! Since BMUN is so close now, the chairs put together this mini-crisis rundown to help you all prepare for committee this upcoming weekend! Please read it in its entirety so that you are ready for committee. What is a "crisis committee"? Crisis committees are committees set in a certain time period, emulating different members of a small organization (ie. board of directors, senators, military members, etc). The main difference between a crisis committee and a general assembly committee is the pacing. In this committee, there will be about 20 delegates working to solve multiple "crises" that are brought up in relation to the topic, ranging from protecting refugees from an attack to responding to a drought that has left civilians without water. Instead of representing countries, each delegate plays a different character with a direct influence on the outcome of each event. When committee starts, unlike in general a...
